This is a three weeks blended learning course on Physiology of Vision to understand the functioning of our eyes.

The course will cover the following topics:

Topic-1- Functional Anatomy of eye

Topic-2- Optics- Image forming mechanism

Topic-3- Colour vision

Topic-4- Visual pathway and visual cortex

Topic-5- Photoreceptor mechanism-mechanism of phototransduction

Topic-6- Processing of visual signal

Course objectives:

Describe and discuss the functional anatomy of eye, physiology of image formation, colour vision, refractive errors, physiology of pupil and light reflex

Photoreceptor mechanism- structure of photopigments, mechanism of phototransduction

Describe and discuss the Physiological basis of lesion in visual pathway

Demonstrate the test of visual acuity, colour vision and field of vision

Course outcome:

It is a blended learning course consisting of core videos of short duration on the topics given and supplementary materials in the form of video and text materials. Discussion forum and assignments will be given to enhance and grade the knowledge of the learner.

At the end of course learner is expected to grasp the concept effectively and able to reproduce it.

Assessments will be in the form of quiz, MCQs and short answer forms
